Born in 1964 in Liestal, studied philosophy and cell biology at the University of Basel. Even as a student, he worked as a freelance science journalist, an activity that he turned into a career after graduating in cell biology. He wrote articles on medicine, science in general and genetic engineering in particular for various newspapers, journals and magazines in both Switzerland and Germany. In 1990 he co-founded Locher, Brauchbar & Partner, from which emerged Brauchbar, Büchel & Partner in 2001, the forerunner of the present-day advocacy AG. Today he works principally as a communications, strategy and policy consultant in the fields of healthcare, research and education.
